Keith and I have been married for almost 10 years, and we have three beautiful children, Mairi (6) & Elijah (25 mo.) & Catti who is in heaven.
We both had a lifetime of unhealthy habits and lack of physical activity dating back to childhood.
After our daughter, Catriana, was stillborn in January 2007, we spent the next year grieving, soothing ourselves with a sedentary lifestyle and comfort food.
We watched our weight balloon to nearly 300lbs each.
In January 2009, I discovered Hoopnotica while 8 months pregnant with Eli. Having avoided exercise all throughout my life, I was attracted to Hoopnotica because it was different, looked fun, and people laughed a lot during class.
After giving birth to a healthy, beautiful baby (Eli), I returned to Hoopnotica in September 2009, then weighing 285lbs and wearing a size 26. I purchased Hoopnotica DVDs and taught myself, because there were no Hoopnotica instructors in Rochester!
It took nearly 3 weeks for me to learn to hoop through one song, but I did not give up!
I committed at least 15 minutes each day to Hoopnotica and began to change my eating habits. I lost 9lbs in the first month, and the weight began melting off.
In the following months, I would average 12-15lbs of weight loss each month, now having lost 140lbs and counting :)
Keith was inspired by my results and took up hooping himself. He saw how fun it was and wanted to learn, so I taught him!
Together, we have transformed our bodies, having lost a collective 235lbs. I currently weigh 145lbs and a size 4-6, and I teach 15+ Hoopnotica classes a week throughout Rochester. Keith is a certified personal trainer who began teaching hoop classes in April 2011.
Knowing that I had given birth to death, there wasn’t anything I couldn’t do – especially there wasn’t anything we couldn’t do together.
